The relationship of the lyrics with the visuals shown by the music video is very strong however very hard to identify. The song briefly explains how the system of the country is having a negative impact on the everyday lives of ordinary working class people by making them feel exhausted, depressed and essentially miserable with no more hope. However when the chorus comes in, the lyrics go on to describe the music as being a sweet sensation and almost a saviour allowing them to escape the living hell in which they come from. This matches the music video almost perfectly as the opening scene shows the viewer a tape from a 90's police report describing the idea of dancing in abandoned warehouses as cynical and morally wrong. This coincides with the lyrics describing the system as being a burden to everyday working class citizens. The chorus is reached when the music video reaches the point where the young adults actually enter the warehouse and a sense of euphoria is released to counter the ideas of dismay and miserableness expressed in the previous lyrics. This therefore shows that the music is heavily related to the video and the narrative that has been produced for the viewer.
With regards to genre characteristics, this specific song belongs to the genre of dubstep or drum and bass. These specific genres are not as mainstream as others, which therefore has resulted in many of the songs belonging to these genres not being publicised enough to actually have a music video. This means that this specific song goes against the conventions of this genre as it can be regarded as a hit song meaning that it gained enough attention from the mainstream audiences within this country in order for producers to invest time and money into a music video which they thought would be beneficial in increasing promotion of the song. Another way in which this song specifically fights the conventions of this specific genre is that with electronic music there is often a very futuristic feel to it based on the unorthodox noise which is created by uncommon instruments. This song however focuses on the past and the history of electronic music and shows the viewer a perspective which emphasises the oldness of the setting through the use of props and the camera which it is filmed on.
With regards to intertextuality of other medias, there has been many popular films and even other songs which relate to the cultures involved in this song. The ideology of the 90's northern rave scene has been expressed in movies such as: Weekender starring Jack O'Connell, This is England and also Spike Island who all explore the idea of young northern adults going against the system of the country in order to be happy and escape from an oppressive reality.
Liam Bailey who provided the vocals for this song also appeared performing in the party filmed in the music video. This allows the viewer to create a more accurate visual representation of what the party would have looked like. Liam Bailey is involved in the music video only briefly however as the video is there to show the atmosphere from a narrative point of view rather than focus on the vocals and the performance. The singer is seen singing down a microphone with many people around him dancing in an ecstatic manner which can suggest that Liam is also a part of the atmosphere and not isolated from the audience by an army of security.
With regards to the linearity of the narrative of this music video, the video is shot in chronological order with a start middle and an end all being distinguishable. The story can be understood easily as it is simply a group of people attending party then the party finishes the next morning. The clever and professional editing and use of clips help the viewer realise this.
With regards to looking/mode of address, the music video is shot on a hand held camera to give a home movie feel to the production which means that the viewer feels like they are actually within the scene as the perspective is coming from one of the young adults actually attending the party. This allows the viewer to feel more deeply connected to the video and the story line itself. There are many representations within this particular music video as a variety of different people are shown within it. The primary representation is of age as the young adults are depicted doing things usually considered morally wrong and of a taboo nature but they are also having the time of their lives. Many adults now will be able to internally relate to the music video as it was in their era. Also many young people now will be ale to relate to the video because it is set around people of their age. With regards to other representations, the theme of diversity which is emphasised specifically at the party allows more people to relate to the video.
